Who is Pam Hupp?
Pamela Marie Hupp, 64 years old, was born on October 10, 1958. She shot Louis Gumpenberger at her house in O’Fallon, Missouri, in 2016.
Law police rejected Hupp’s allegation that Hupp shot Gumpenberger, physically and mentally disabled, in self-defense after he chased Hupp into her house with a knife. Before the first-degree murder and armed robbery charges could go to trial, she finally signed an Alford plea.

Pam Hupp’s Case
Hupp’s testimony was essential in Russ Faria’s 2013 conviction for the murder of his beloved wife, Betsy Faria. Faria was freed in 2015 following a successful appeal and retrial after his defense attorney was permitted to present evidence suppressed from the original trial jury. Some of this evidence implicated Hupp, the beneficiary of a life insurance policy held by Betsy, as the murderer. According to a theory put out by law enforcement, Hupp deceived Gumpenberger into coming into her house before killing him and framing Faria. Hupp was accused of killing Betsy Faria in the first degree in July 2021.
Pam Hupp’s Investigations
Shirley Neumann, who died in 2013 from wounds received in a fall from the balcony of her third-floor apartment in Fenton, Missouri, has also been linked to an investigation into Hupp. Hupp was suspected of murdering Neumann for financial gain by a tip to the police. The St. Louis County Police Department’s inquiry into Neumann’s death proved unsuccessful.
Pam Hupp’s Prior Life
Pam Hupp, also named Pamela Marie Neumann, spent her childhood in the St. Louis neighborhood of Dellwood, Missouri, where she attended Riverview Gardens High School. She had many positions in the life insurance sector during her early adulthood; nonetheless, she was dismissed twice for falsifying signatures.
Hupp and her husband moved to O’Fallon in 2001, where she worked as a State Farm administrator and did some property flipping on the side through a business named H2 Partners LLC. Moreover, Hupp had ceased working by 2010 and requested disability payments due to neck, back, and leg discomfort.
Pam Hupp’s Charges
In June 2019, Lincoln County prosecuting attorney Mike Wood declared that he would restart the Betsy Faria killing case following Hupp’s Alford plea to the murder of Louis Gumpenberger. Wood asked the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad to evaluate his claim in October 2019. Rick Harrell, the recently elected sheriff of Lincoln County, stated that the Faria case motivated him to seek office in August 2020. According to Wood, the COVID-19 epidemic had hampered the probe in February 2021, but he anticipated “major disclosures” in the summer or fall. Hupp was initially questioned concerning the murder of Betsy on July 8, 2021.
Pam Hupp’s Guilty
Hupp was detained on August 23, 2016, and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal behaviour. Assistant prosecutor Phil Groenweghe of St. Charles County characterized the crime as “aware of guilt.” $2 million was established as Hupp’s bail. A grand jury indicted Hupp on the allegations on December 16. On January 31, 2017, she appeared in court and entered a not guilty plea. Due to the arbitrary selection of Gumpenberger as the victim, the prosecution announced in March 2017 that they would ask for Gumpenberger’s execution. Judge Jon Cunningham of the 11th Circuit Court decided in May 2018 that prosecutors may not introduce evidence about the death of Hupp’s mother. Still, in June 2018, Cunningham decided that prosecutors could present evidence about the murder of Betsy Faria. Hupp’s trial date was scheduled for June 2019 in August last year.
