Teine Botha is Alison’s happily married husband. During her rehabilitation, she met him and fell in love with him. They later married in February 1997. Tienie was suffering from depression at the time due to childhood trauma. They had known one other for many years but had not gotten to know each other very well until a year after her attack.

Moreover, they were both suffering from depression at the time. Thus they became each other’s rescue. Her injuries made it nearly tricky for her to have a kid. But, once again, a miracle occurred when she gave birth to her 3.6-kilogram baby Daniel on November 14, 2003. She later gave birth to another son.

When her children inquired about the scars on her neck, she said, “Mommy was harmed, and sometimes when you are hurt, you get a scar later.” She didn’t want to hide what had happened to her from her children, who preferred to hear from her rather than her book or documentary.
